About Solid Ground
Since 1995, Solid Ground is a bluegrass band known for its tight musicianship and energetic stage presence, performing songs with a positive message of hope and faith. They have traveled extensively throughout the southeastern United States gaining fans all along the way. Powergrass Radio voted them Emerging Band of the Year in 2005, and their music can be heard regularly on radio stations across the country including XM Satellite Radio. A first place finish at the Cumberland River Bluegrass Band Competition in Burkesville, KY and a top ten finish at the SPBGMA International Band Competition is proof they can deliver good, solid bluegrass music.

Trent Harrelson sings most of the lead vocals and handles the rhythm and lead guitar duties for Solid Ground. Trent began developing his musical style at the age of five. He first learned to play guitar and eventually moved on to master the banjo. Trent traveled with the family band, The Harrelson Family, for many years until the death of his father, Claude, in 1988. After a few years away from the bluegrass scene, but never very far away from music, Trent returned to his musical roots with his feet and his heart firmly planted on Solid Ground.

Trent's son, Alan, is the band's banjo picker and baritone singer. In 2005, Alan won first place in the banjo competition at the Cumberland River Bluegrass Festival in Burkesville, KY and has placed as a top 5 finalist twice at the Renofest State Banjo Picking Championship, held in Hartsville, SC. Alan is a student at the University of South Carolina and, in his spare time, enjoys gardening and just about anything outdoors.

Kathleen Coker joined Solid Ground in early 2006. She handles the mandolin, fiddle and tenor vocals. Now 15 years old, Kathleen began playing the mandolin and fiddle at age 11. When she isn't playing bluegrass, she enjoys riding horses in competition events and doing things that any other 15 year old would do. She has achieved a C-3 rating in horsemanship and is an active member of the Pee Dee Pony Club.

Thomas Coker is the newest member of Solid Ground, in every sense of the word. That is, he's the most recent addition and the youngest, having just recently celebrated his 13th birthday. He's doing a fine job playing the bass, which is pretty much bigger than he is. And yes, he and Kathleen are brother and sister.
